Drain relining repairs a damaged pipe from within. After the line has been cleaned and inspected, a resin-impregnated liner is inserted into the existing pipe and cured in place. The result is a new, continuous pipe wall within the old one, generally without needing to excavate along the full length of the drain.

When replacement is the better decision
Replacement is often required when the pipe has suffered structural failure. A crushed or collapsed line cannot reliably support a liner. Excavation may also be necessary where there is extensive damage across several sections, failed connections, inaccessible branches, or a need to alter the route or capacity of the drainage system. Site access and surface reinstatement matter
The practical cost of either option is influenced heavily by where the drain sits. A damaged line beneath a lawn with clear machine access is very different from one beneath a concrete driveway, a narrow side passage, a suspended slab or a landscaped common area.
Relining can reduce excavation and reinstatement costs in difficult locations. That does not mean it will always be cheaper. Long runs, multiple junctions, heavy cleaning requirements and complex access arrangements can affect the price of a relining project.
Replacement costs can increase where excavation involves removing concrete, working around electrical or communications services, supporting nearby structures, disposing of unsuitable material, or restoring premium finishes.
